Hello! I’m Carmen Lawrence, and equipment technician from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I work for JASCO Applied Sciences, a company that specializes in passive underwater acoustics. My primary role at JASCO is maintaining oceanographic equipment and preparing moorings for deployment at sea.

On the first ADEON cruise, we left the dock with all eight landers and deployed one at each of the seven stations (with one spare).

Today was an exciting day, as we successfully retrieved the first lander and deployed the new lander in the same location. Everything went very smooth and according to plan - thanks to the professional crew aboard the R/V Endeavor. During the transit to the next site, I will be swapping out sensors on the retrieved lander and installing a new anchor so it can be redeployed at the next station.

It’s going to be a busy trip! I’m excited to get started and to get to know all the new scientists that have joined the ADEON clan.
