Nov 02 – Chugging along

Hello from the R/V Endeavor! My name is Cassie Fries, and this is my second ADEON cruise. It’s nice to be back on the same ship as last time, making our set up and organization of equipment way easier since we have done this before. Coming back to the ship felt like a natural transition, making the next three weeks at sea easier (I even got my same bunk as last time).

It’s been another day in and we are still rocking. I thankfully have not been hit with sea-sickness yet, and I hope I don’t jinx myself by saying that. Since we are transiting to calmer waters, we are able to have some down time. Carmen mentioned the transition to night shift in her last blog, and I know the feeling well. I have been slowly transitioning to night shift, which is a 12 hour shift from 6 pm to 6 am. We still have a few days before needing to fully make the switch, so only a few of us made it up late last night. A piece of advice, don’t watch a scary movie on a ship alone at 3 am because every sound will scare you… Other than movies, we read, catch up on work, and eat the leftover Halloween candy. Everything is essentially set up so we are hoping for better weather soon!
